Although the 2021 college basketball season is likely to be disrupted by rolling waves of cancellations and postponements, we’re just happy that we’re going to have a season.

With college basketball being canceled on March 12th, we’ve been waiting impatiently through the longest off-season in the history of the NCAA.

A Final Four pick story is the perfect way to celebrate the fact that we have some amazing games and a long season to look forward to. After long discussions and debates, here are the picks for the Final Four attendees from the expert handicappers here at Charlies Sports.

Illinois

After what we saw last season, it’s fair to say that Illinois is no longer a sleeping giant. They’re relevant, and have one of the best players in the NCAAB in Ayo Dosunmu.

However, Dosunmu isn’t the only star name on the team. Brad Underwood has got a promising freshie in Adam Miller, a trusted veteran in Trent Frazier, and of course, Kofi Cockburn.

And we haven’t even mentioned Giorgi Bezhanishvili! Add them up and you have close to sixty points per game right there. Trust us when we say: Illinois has all the artillery it needs to at least secure a berth in the national semi-finals.

Baylor

Baylor is one of the two teams that are being billed as outright favorites for the championships—and it’s no wonder why. They’re spearheaded by Jared Butler, who’s by far one of the best in the game right now.

Considering that a weakened Bears team picked up 26 victories last season, and that they’re bringing back Butler, defensive magician Mark Vital, and two of the best guards in the country in Davion Mitchell and MaCio Teague, the Bears have a great chance of winning it all next season.

Gonzaga

Although Gonzaga may not boast the most talented roster on this list, it’s firmly entrenched as one of the favorites to win the competition because of its padded non-conference schedule that’s only comprised of sixteen games. This will be a huge boost in their quest to be a No. 1 seed.

Villanova

Besides Saddiq Bey, the Wildcats are returning everyone from a team that finished 24-7, picked up W’s in 7 of their final 8 games, and shared the Big East regular season title spoils with Creighton and Seton Hall.

Moreover, with All-American candidates Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Collin Gillespie, the Wildcats have more than enough firepower to stay atop the Big East.
