Florida NCAA Mens College Basketball Freshman Cleared To Play
Shooting guard Maurice Creek, one of the key prospects in Indiana's 2009 recruiting class, has been cleared to compete as a freshman by the NCAA and can join the Hoosiers in their next official skill workouts.
Coach Tom Crean reported on Twitter that Creek had been approved by the NCAA eligibility clearinghouse. Crean called it "a very large step" in the restoration of the IU program.
Creek, who stands 6-4, was rated No. 41 among prospects in his class by Scout.com. He is an outstanding shooter and also can score from the mid-range. He played last season at Virginia's Hargrave Military Academy and is considered the main prize in IU's top-10 class.
