CHARLIES SPORTS COLLEGE BASKETBALLL SPORTS NEWS - AUGUST 2009

Florida NCAA Mens College Basketball Team Looks For Help Overseas
After losing guard Nick Calathes to Greece, Florida coach Billy Donovan went overseas to find his potential replacement.
Israeli standout Nimrod Tishman began classes at Florida on Monday and could join the Gators this fall. The 6-foot-6 point guard still must be cleared by the NCAA. Tishman averaged 18.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists at the Under-18 European Championships in France in late July. Florida associate head coach Larry Shyatt watched Tishman play there
Former Marquette Mens College Basketball Coach Returns To Get Inducted Into Hall Of Fame
Ignoring any hard feelings about his abrupt departure for Indiana, Tom Crean returned to Marquette and was inducted into its sports hall of fame along with Dwyane Wade and the rest of the 2003 Final Four men's basketball on Saturday night.
The celebration was held at the Bradley Center, the site where Crean helped lead Marquette's resurgence in college basketball and, eventually, in the Big East.
NCAA Mens College Basketball Recruits Finally Show Up At Kansas
Now appearing at Kansas in what could be a very short off-Broadway run - the famous Henry brothers.

The celebrated siblings from Oklahoma City finally arrived on campus this week and will probably help make the Jayhawks an early favorite for the upcoming NCAA championship. Older brother C. J. Henry originally committed in the 2005 class that included future NBA players as Mario Chalmers, Brandon Rush and Julian Wright. Little brother Xavier Henry will probably fire away from out on the wing and said this week that he expects to be one-and-done, indicating that college is merely a relay station on his way to the NBA. The brothers have been closely watched for some time. After 6-foot-4 C. J. Henry committed to Kansas, he was drafted by the New York Yankees and elected to give baseball a try. But he never got out of the low minors and wound up at Memphis on a basketball scholarship.
Former NCAA Mens College Basketball Inducted Into Indiana Hall Of Fame
Former Indiana University basketball coach Bob Knight will be inducted into the university's athletics Hall of Fame nearly a decade after he was fired for violating a zero-tolerance policy imposed by then-IU President Myles Brand.

The announcement by Indiana on Saturday is the first move to bring the two sides together since Knight was fired in 2000 for what school officials called a "pattern of unacceptable behavior." "I am honored to have been a part of selecting this outstanding class of tremendous coaches and student-athletes," new athletic director Fred Glass said in a statement. "For my first Hall of Fame class to include heroes from my childhood as well as my student days is a dream come true."
