Memphis Waives Former NBA Star
The Memphis Grizzlies have waived Jerry Stackhouse, just a day after acquiring the NBA veteran in a four-team, eight-player trade.
General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced the move Friday after Thursday's blockbuster deal involving the Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks, Toronto Raptors and Orlando Magic.
Thunder Sign Their Number One NBA Draft Pick
The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed guard James Harden, center B.J. Mullens and forward Serge Ibaka. Terms of the deals were not disclosed Saturday. Harden, the third overall pick in the draft, was a first-team All-American and the Pac-10 player of the year after averaging 20.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists during his sophomore season at Arizona State. He can earn about $4 million as a rookie.
Portland Signs Rising NBA Star To Offer Sheet
The Portland Trail Blazers signed restricted free agent forward Paul Millsap to an offer sheet Friday. The Utah Jazz have seven days to match the offer. The terms were not disclosed by the Blazers because of team policy. Millsap's agent did not immediately respond to phone calls and e-mails from The Associated Press seeking comment.
NBA Team Signs Player To Extension
The Utah Jazz and center Mehmet Okur have agreed on a two-year contract extension that runs through 2012. Okur is entering the last year of the original deal he signed with Utah as a free agent in 2004. He could have opted out of the final season, but decided on the final day to stay with the Jazz.
