Dodger Player Too Miss 2009 Major League Baseball All Star Game

Los Angeles Dodgers closer Jonathan Broxton will miss Tuesday's All-Star Game because of a sore toe.

Broxton received a cortisone shot to calm an irritated nerve on the big toe of his right foot, the Los Angeles Times reports. It's disappointing, but you've got to look out for here," Broxton told the Times.

MLB Team To Honor Dom Damggio

The Boston Red Sox will honor former center fielder Dominic DiMaggio before taking on the Kansas City Royals.

DiMaggio, the younger brother of Hall of Famer Joe, died May 8, 2009 at age 92. His widow, Emily DiMaggio, children and grandchildren will attend the ceremony to be held in center field on Sunday.

MLB All Star Game Gets Replacement Player

Tampa Bay first baseman Carlos Pena will replace Boston second baseman Dustin Pedroia on the American League roster for Tuesday's game All-Star game.

Pedroia is not playing because of a personal matter. Pena leads the AL with 24 homers and will take part in the home run derby leading to the game in St. Louis.

MLB Pitcher Hurls No Hitter

Jonathan Sanchez, an unlikely candidate, pitched the majors' first no-hitter this season Friday night, dominating the San Diego Padres with an array of pitches in the San Francisco Giants' 8-0 victory.

The 26-year-old lefthander, Sanchez returned to the rotation after a nearly three-week demotion to the bullpen -- and he only got the call because 303-game winner Randy Johnson went on the disabled list this week with a shoulder injury.
